well. here it is. my first EVER post on a blog. am i allowed to write in incomplete sentences?
I thought it seemed appropriate, in kicking off this adventure of mine to Paris, that i should at least attempt in recreating one of my favorite French desserts, le soufflé de chocolat. Usually mom is not keen on my ideas when i want to attempt an industrious dessert such as the soufflé. This is probably because of the minor natural disaster effect that the kitchen takes on post-baking. However, as tomorrow is her birthday, and the soufflé remains one of her all-time favorites as well, she was all in.
the soufflé is a complicated dessert where you have to separate and beat the eggs just right, everything has to be at certain temperatures at certain times, you have to do a LOT of technical “folding” and overcook something and you might as well just pull out the Oreos and call it culinary failure…curiously, i tend to love these types of recipes because of the challenge it presents…and i must say, the soufflé turned out rather well for a first timer.
I used the basic recipe found on FoodNetwork. go ahead, take a gander…

before the oven…

…after the oven!
ps: i garnished them with powdered sugar!- can’t go wrong.

this is just a little glimpse of the “natural disaster effect” i was talking about…although this looks more like an explosion of color and creativity if you ask my opinion.

our chocolate soufflé was accompanied by a vanilla creme sauce.the way that the warm sauce envelopes the light fluffy chocolate creates a very nice melt in your mouth effect to the dessert.
here is the recipe for the sauce. pretty basic.

actually…the vanilla creme sauce was so delicious that i didn’t even get a good picture in before it was almost all eaten.
So there you have it people.
