9,000+ buried on the cliff just above one of the most magnificent coast lines.
here lies man, after man, after man… all dying for a united cause. freedom.
tiny boats are tossed about in a mad sea threatening to swallow. huddled against the hull, each soldier is full of fear i can only imagine. trembling with the cold crisp salty sea air and swaying with the current they make a choice. to become utterly selfless, to step off the platform, to face the fierce waves, the harsh conditions, the oncoming downpour of bullets, cannons, and bombs, to face the shore that is crowded with bodies of former partners, soaked red, to face the cliffs ahead entangled with snares, traps, land mines, and barbed wire.
these men didn’t hesitate to step into the brawl. to face hell on earth, in order to fight.
to fight no matter the circumstance, no matter the amount of casualties surrounding them, no matter the amount of comfort the boat served….because in reality, the boat serves only the fleeting illusion of comfort. its only a short amount of time until the air strike occurs, until the waves capsize.
only one choice, which is to fight. and to fight with ruthless, persistent, consistency.
for the cause of freedom.
for the desire of peace.
what if we took on life like this fight that took place on the shores of Normandy on D-Day? i assure you, the battle thats going on here and now is much more threatening than the one that took these 9,000+ lives.
what if those we love around us need us? what if their lives are being threatened…and instead of jumping to action, we are just waiting on the boat. in fear for our own safety. just because it feels a bit more comfortable for us on the boat.
why would we waste a minute when destruction lies ahead inevitably?
we are called to fight.
for freedom, for peace, for The Kingdom.
and no matter how much we think we love the boat right now…
this Kingdom is worth fighting for.
“Finally be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:10

“You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you,
because he trusts in you.
Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.” Isaiah 26:3-4
